Anniversary Session on Pensacola Sailboat || Kyle + Maddy
Trying new things is the best! I shot Kyle and Maddy’s wedding back in 2018 and when they asked me to photograph them on a sailboat last year in their favorite place, the ocean, I got so excited! However, I was in my first trimester and wasn’t sure I’d do well on a boat, so we moved their session to this year.
I was very nervous cause I’m not a big fan of boats and have never shot on one, but it was so much fun! Sailing is actually pretty cool. Maddy and Kyle have never watched OBX, but I got all the Pogue vibes from this day. If you’ve been following me for a while you know I love shooting in full sunlight. The night of the session could not have been more perfect weather! I got to play in all of the lighting situations as the sun went down.
I love getting to shoot with film again. Reminds me of my college days when all I shot was Ilford HP5 film and developed it myself. It was nerve-wracking to load my film in the dark and not screw the developing process up. (So happy I don't have to do that anymore) Now I just get nervous sending the film out and hoping it won't get lost, lol.
If you love the timelessness of film and want to add it to your gallery, let me know! There's something about the grainy goodness that you just can't replicate digitally.
If you’ve been wanting a session on the water, you need to hit me and @winedownsailing up! They have speakers all over their boat and they even provided a charcuterie board with cotton candy grapes. We felt so safe with them and they helped make sure I got all the good light.
