Springfield, IL / Backyard, Corn Field Wedding || Scot + Paige

Paige + Scot dreamed of getting married on the beach, but their wedding fell victim to Covid. However, that didn’t stop them from getting married! They asked me to fly out to Springfield, IL to shoot their intimate, backyard wedding and of course, I said yes! Everyone at the wedding asked why I would fly all the way from Florida to shoot their wedding. My answer: I’m always up for travelling and I love being there for my couples! I couldn’t imagine anyone else being there for them. Plus, backyard weddings are my favorite. Even though it wasn’t the beach wedding they envisioned, they did an incredible job with only 3 weeks to plan an entirely new wedding. They got married in Scot’s parent’s backyard and were able to utilize what was already there so well! They used an old batting cage to hang the string lights up above the family-style table and had their ceremony on a little hill by the cornfield.

I asked Paige if she had any advice and she said for sure hire a wedding planner. I couldn’t agree with her more! No matter how big or small your wedding is, it’s always nice to have a professional responsible for making sure everything runs smoothly so you can relax. She also put a lot of importance on making sure the wedding fit her vision and no one else’s and I love how personalized their day felt. Fun fact, the cat sleeping on the chair was Simba and even though he’d only been there a couple of weeks he followed us everywhere demanding to be scratched.

Proposal Story: Scot told Paige they were going to his parent’s house for supper but told her he had to go check on a building at a farm to make sure he turned the lights out. (Real smooth) After picking up their cat, Sophie, he took them to a bin and there stood a John Deere gator with a ring, roses, and Paige’s favorite candy sitting on the seat. Paige had fallen in love with the farmer’s son.
