Foxhall Resort Wedding in Douglasville, Georgia | Kinsey + Nick
Kinsey + Nick’s day was absolutely beautiful. It was basically my dream wedding, and if I was able to redo our wedding it would look very much like this.
They had originally wanted to get married in Rosemary Beach, which is why they chose that location for their engagement session. Then they moved the wedding to Douglasville at the Foxhall Resort, which was closer to home. I honestly loved how it felt more private and the view was beautiful.
There were florals everywhere and it had all the editorial vibes. Seeing as how Kinsey is a designer, I expected no less. As we’ve already established, green is my favorite color so I got really excited when she told me it was her wedding color! I mean, scroll down and look at those gorgeous bridesmaid dresses! Also, instead of pinned boutonnières, they did the new in-pocket boutonnières which are genius! They stick down in the jacket pocket, which is so much easier than trying to stick a pin through them. Plus, they look so good and you don’t have to worry about making sure they’re straight the whole time.
All the florals for the ceremony were repurposed for the reception too and I loved seeing how they were used in each space. I’m still in awe over every little detail and I just wish I could go back and shoot it again.
We spent about an hour or more getting photos of just Kinsey and Nick. You might be thinking, “Wow. That’s a lot of time to spend taking photos on a wedding day.” However, it’s not bad at all when you break it up into 3 parts; first look, post-ceremony, and sunset. I love doing this cause it gives me a variety of locations to shoot in, plus it’s so much more enjoyable than shooting consecutively for an hour when all you really want to do is get to the party.
Kinsey gifted her bridesmaids these gorgeous, floral engraved necklaces that they all wore on the day of. They also wore green, satin pajamas to get ready in. They chose to have their grandmothers’ be the flower queens instead of having flower girls and it was so sweet. They gifted them matching pearl bracelets and Kinsey wore the same pearl bracelet. All of the groomsmen went to UGA and they all wore a pair of UGA socks that Nick gifted them to wear on the wedding day. Kinsey also wore her mom’s wedding veil, which already had mini pearls in it. She was ahead of her time for sure. I love the sentimentality behind her wearing it, but I also loved that she wanted to take photos without it too to show off her gorgeous wedding hairstyle.
It was a summer wedding, but luckily it wasn’t too hot. The sun came out at all of the right times, especially at sunset. Everyone who attended the wedding was so positive and happy. You could tell they were so excited and genuinely loved the couple. Throughout the wedding day, I'm always looking at the family. How are they reacting to the moments of the day? From the happy tears to the moments of uncontrollable laughter, I love capturing it all.
When they reached out to me to shoot their wedding they said they loved my style, “Beautiful editing style, candid moments, framing of photos... everything!! We love the natural look in your photos with the beautiful shades of green. We also love that each photo is rich with color and contrast.” It is always so sweet hearing such kind words from my couples!
